"Could one say that art degenerates as it approaches gardening?"
Robert Smithson, quoted in Trans I Plant: Living Vegetation in Contemporary Art, Barbara Newitz
"Within the history of art images are informed form. The informing of form has two elements. Form is informed firstly by the history in which those images are located, and secondly by their capacity to be reworked. The latter can be understood as a futural coming-into-relation [...]
The afterlife is form's capacity to continue to be informed."
Andrew Benjamin, "Doubt and Indifference: Threshold conditions within the work of art"
Planes and Rhythms is an intermedial study on the expressive chaos of nature. It is a research study towards De-framing: experiments in seeing, part of Humilitas. Inspired by and set in the Catalan Pyrenees, Humilitas hones in on the notion of the earth’s humility and how it can inform ethically impactful imaging. This page intends to emulate the project's studio wall.
I took a series of digital images in the ravine landscapes of Queralbs (Catalan Pyrenees), which I placed in dialogue with paintings by Cy Twombly. In drawing parallels and inviting dialogues between the two – free acts of nature and traces left by the human hand – there is, for me, a loosening of vision that opens up a seeing beyond our concrete understanding of the world. The question is, whether it be pictorial or photographic, what is an image made up of?
How is intelligible (informed) form disassembled or undone?
What is the threshold of intelligibility in the process of imaging?
A background is a ground, a foundation, that makes possible the mark.
Allowing the mind – the hand – to disassemble and scatter.
Renunciation is, for Heidegger, "the highest form of possession"

Can poverty co-exist with detail and variation?
How to transpose principles in painting to the photographic image?
