Planes and Rhythms is an intermedial study on the expressive chaos of nature. It is a research study towards De-framing: experiments in seeing, part of Humilitas. Inspired by and set in the Catalan Pyrenees, Humilitas hones in on the notion of the earth’s humility and how it can inform ethically impactful imaging. This page intends to emulate the project's studio wall.


I took a series of digital images in the ravine landscapes of Queralbs (Catalan Pyrenees), which I placed in dialogue with paintings by Cy Twombly. In drawing parallels and inviting dialogues between the two – free acts of nature and traces left by the human hand – there is, for me, a loosening of vision that opens up a seeing beyond our concrete understanding of the world. The question is, whether it be pictorial or photographic, what is an image made up of?
